Tradition

A diversity of more than 20 grape varieties allows us to produce 28 different wines. Thomas Rémondeulaz is the vineyard manager, bringing his valuable experience since joining in 2021. We cherish our specialties such as Johannisberg, Petite Arvine, Païen, Merlot, Syrah, which have built the reputation of our cellar.

The winery is in St-Pierre-de-Clages, next to our tasting space. Since 2011, Rodolphe Roux has led the estate’s oenology, crafting each cuvée with passion, alongside John Boven. The building has three levels and a storage capacity of around 400,000 liters, although we produce only about half that volume. Most cellar work takes place from September to December.
Our single goal: to produce wines of the highest quality, crafted with professionalism, passion, and rigor. Each new vintage is an event, a new adventure, a new birth for which no effort is spared.

Passion

The passion for wine has been passed down through generations in our family. The foundations of a great wine are laid in the vineyard. The vine must struggle, and by reducing part of its clusters, it seeks strength deep in the soil best suited to each grape variety. “Educating” wine is a matter of patience, delicacy, and balance. Quality always comes before quantity. This passion gives us the strength to face the many challenges linked to the vieyard, the cellar, sales, and business management.

Family

With passion and respect for the work accomplished by Henri and Michel Boven, the third generation is now fully invested in the estate. Rachel Boven leads and guides her children in managing the business. John Boven works closely with Rodolphe in the cellar during harvest, and the rest of the year he develops sales and maintains customer relations. Céline Boven manages administration, accounting, payroll, invoicing, and secretarial tasks. Michael and Jérôme, the brothers, contribute to daily tasks alongside their own professional activities.

Our Philosophy

For nearly 60 years, we have been raising great wines in harmony with nature, constantly striving for the “Ideal of Perfection.” This philosophy of excellence, which shapes the reputation of our wines, continues the work begun by Henri and Michel Boven.

Vision

Our vision is to continue producing high-end wines. We are convinced that some of our wines have the potential to be exported worldwide in the near future. We also aim to keep developing the estate and, why not, pass it on to the fourth generation.

The Vineyard

New team, new challenges. We are moving toward a carefully managed grassing of our plots, reducing the environmental impact of our work while maintaining impeccable quality. This project is led by Thomas Rémondeulaz, our Chef de culture.

Our History

Location

Creation of the cellar by Henri Boven

At a time when families in Valais vinified grapes to supplement their income, Henri Boven, a tireless worker, founded Cave Ardévaz.
